About the Platform

What is Stallion Auctions Online?

Stallion Auctions Online is an online auction platform built specifically for horse associations to run stallion service fundraising auctions. Stallion owners donate a breeding, your association auctions it off online, and the proceeds go to your association's programs. We have been doing this for horse associations since 2007.

Who uses Stallion Auctions Online?

Horse associations across the United States and Canada. Our clients include breed associations, racing associations, cutting and reining horse associations, and youth organizations. More than 30 associations run their auctions on our platform.

What makes Stallion Auctions Online different from a general auction website?

It was built from scratch for this exact purpose, not adapted from a general-purpose auction tool. Every feature came from a real request by a horse association over the years. It also runs on your own branded website, we take no percentage of your proceeds, and your bidder data stays entirely with your association.

Can the platform be used for other kinds of fundraising auctions?

Yes. Several associations use the same software during the year to auction off tack, saddles, training packages, clothing, and other items for charity or general fundraising. It can be configured for any type of auction at no extra charge.

Pricing and Fees

How much does Stallion Auctions Online cost?

Pricing is a flat annual fee plus a one-time setup fee, quoted to your association based on your needs. We do not publish a single price because each association's setup is a little different, but you will get a full custom quote before you commit to anything, with no surprises.

Does Stallion Auctions Online take a percentage of what our auction raises?

No. We never take a cut of your proceeds. Some platforms take a percentage of everything sold. We do not. You pay a flat annual fee and every dollar your auction raises stays with your association.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The fee you are quoted is the fee you pay. There are no per-bid charges, no per-stallion charges, and no percentage taken from your sales.

How many auctions can we run per year?

As many as you want. Your annual fee covers unlimited auctions. Some associations run a stallion service auction in one season and a separate charity fundraiser auction later in the year on the same website.

Getting Started

How long does it take to set up an online stallion auction website?

From the time you sign, your auction website is up and ready within about 7 days, provided you get us the information we need promptly. That includes the design, your domain, the software, payment setup, and a training walkthrough.

Do we need any technical skills to run our auction?

No. Adding stallions is straightforward data entry, and your dashboard includes tutorial videos that walk through every task. Most associations watch them once and handle everything on their own from there.

Will our auction website match our existing association website?

Yes. We design your auction site to look like your existing association website as closely as possible, so when your members click over to bid, it feels like they never left your brand.

Do we get our own domain name for the auction?

Yes. Every association gets their own domain, usually something like [AssociationName]StallionAuction.com.

Can we run an auction if we have never done one before?

Absolutely. Many associations come to us having never run a stallion service auction, online or in person. We walk you through the whole thing.

Running the Auction

How does an online stallion service auction actually work?

Stallion owners donate breedings to your association. You list each stallion on your auction site with photos, pedigree, and details. Bidders register and bid online. When the auction closes, you collect payment from the winning bidders and the proceeds go to your association.

What information can we include for each stallion?

As much or as little as you want. Each listing can include unlimited photos, multiple videos, a full pedigree, the standing location, any additional fees, and a buy-it-now price for after the auction closes.

What happens to stallions that do not sell during the auction?

They move to a buy-it-now listing at a price your association sets ahead of time. They stay available to purchase until your buy-it-now end date, so you can still capture those sales after live bidding ends.

Who collects the money from winning bidders?

Your association does. You collect payments directly, and you decide whether to accept credit cards, checks, or both. We handle the technology, not your finances.

Can we make changes to listings after the auction is live?

Yes. You have full access to your admin panel and can update listings anytime. If you need a technical change, we turn it around within 24 hours.

Bidders and Bidding

How do bidders place bids?

Bidders register on your auction site and bid from any phone, tablet, or computer. No app is required. Everything runs in the browser.

What is maximum bidding?

Maximum bidding lets a bidder set the most they are willing to pay for a stallion. The system then bids automatically on their behalf up to that limit. It works the same way eBay's automatic bidding does, so bidders do not have to watch the auction constantly.

What is extended bidding?

If a bid comes in during the final minutes of the auction, the closing time extends automatically. This gives every active bidder a fair chance to respond and prevents last-second sniping.

Do bidders get notified during the auction?

Yes. Bidders automatically get an email when they register, place a bid, get outbid, and win. None of it requires any action from your association.

Can bidders register before the auction opens?

Yes. Bidders can register at any time, even before bidding opens, so they are ready the moment the auction goes live.

Security and Payments

How is our auction website protected from security threats?

Every auction on our platform runs through Cloudflare Enterprise, the same security network used by major banks and large retailers. It filters out harmful traffic, bots, and disruption attempts before they reach your site, and keeps your auction loading fast for bidders anywhere in the country, which matters most in the critical final minutes of bidding.

What payment processor does Stallion Auctions Online use?

We use Stripe exclusively because it integrates directly with the auction software and is one of the most trusted payment processors available. Your association sets up a Stripe account and we connect it to your auction.

Is credit card information stored on our auction website?

No. All card processing happens through Stripe, which is PCI-compliant and handles all card data on its own secure infrastructure. No credit card information is ever stored on your website.

Can we require bidders to have a credit card on file before they bid?

Yes, and most associations do. Requiring a valid card at registration significantly reduces the number of winning bidders who do not pay.

Support

What kind of support do we get during our auction?

During your auction season we are fully available to your association for any questions or issues. If something technical needs attention, we are on it right away.

Does Stallion Auctions Online communicate with our bidders?

No. Bidder questions go through your association, not through us. This keeps your members connected to your organization and your brand the entire time. The system handles all the automatic bidder emails, but personal communication stays with you.

How quickly does Stallion Auctions Online respond if we need help?

We respond quickly during auction season, and technical updates are turned around within 24 hours.
